Throwback to Wild Wild Wet Sunday!

This is a late post on our Wild Wild Wet Sunday experience! The entire Limmies Family went to Wild Wild Wet @ Downtown East on 02 Sept (Sun), 1 day after Bub’s 4th birthday.

We started the day early, having breakfast at Wang Cafe @ Downtown East before we checked in to Wild Wild Wet. It started to rain when we just sat down at Wang Cafe and soon it was raining cats and dogs, chickens and cows. But the heavy downpour did not dampen our spirit as we sat to enjoy our breakfast and waited patiently for the rain to stop.

We were lucky that the rain stopped after we were done with breakfast and we made our way down to Wild Wild Wet. It was the first visit to Wild Wild Wet for everyone, thus we were all excited and looking forward, especially so for Bub. He couldn’t contain his excitement and was grinning from ear to ear.

We checked in to Wild Wild Wet and being the first time to the Water Theme Park, we were all very excited and busy taking photos. After which, we headed to the Information Centre to rent a Cabana. We did not expect the Cabana to be rented out so fast and it must be our lucky day that we managed to rent the last Cabana available. Phew! We got the last Bubbles Cabana just in front of Professor’s Playground. The Bubbles Cabana cost $80 after NTUC member discount and it comes with Free Wi-Fi, chiller, locker cabinet, 4 towels (to be returned back after use), chilled drinks, snack platter, and a float. We got the gummy bear float which we did not utilise as it kept on deflating.

After changing into our swimwear, settling down in the Cabana and locking our valuables in the locker cabinet, we headed to the Professor’s Playground as it is just in front of our Cabana. Bub was having fun shooting water at everyone. Next, we headed over to the other rides.

The Bub stealing the limelight as usual

We went to the Kidz Zone that is filled with pint sizes versions of the bigger rides and while Bub was having fun on the slides with Papa Lim and Grandma Lim, the rest of us went to try out the other rides. For some warming up, we had a go at The Waterworks, a twisty ride with opened and covered slides which only 1 person can go down at a time. Next, we went for the high speed, adrenaline pumping Royal Flush which was one of the most popular rides at the park. Four of us sat on a round float and the rapid moving water sent the float down a Behemoth Bowl and halfway down, there was a sudden stomach-churning drop that brings the float up onto the TornadoWAVE. We could literally feel our butt lifting off the float during the sudden drop and we were all screaming our heads off from start to end. We played the Royal Flush twice, the second time with Papa Lim joining us and Gugu Lim went to play with Bub at the Kidz Zone.

After the exhilarating rides, we went back to the Kidz Zone again to play with Bub. He was hooked to one of the slides and kept going up and down umpteen times…LOL! Next up was the Ular-Lah for some rafting experience. The raft can sit 6 persons and we shared the ride with a pair of father and daughter duo since there were only 4 of us. It was a fast and bumpy ride as we glided down the slide which was as close to rafting as you can get. The rest of the day was spent bobbling on the waves at Tsunami, relaxing in the Jacuzzi pool and chilling on the floats gliding along the Shiok River and we had KFC for lunch in between.

Papa Lim mucking around with in the Shiok River.

Everyone hanging out in the Shiok River!

While we were at the Shiok River, Bub lost his goggles. He was upset about it and Papa Lim set out to find it but could not locate the goggles. Instead, he found another pair of goggles and a gold bracelet. He returned the items to the Wild Wild Wet staff and asked them to keep a lookout for the Bub’s missing goggle. The staff kindly told us that they will keep a lookout if anyone returns it and we can check with the information Centre thereafter.

Soon it was time to head home; we showered and packed up to leave the Cabana and to return back the used towels. Before leaving the place, we checked with the Information Centre whether there was any lost and found goggles. Guess what?! Someone did pick up and returned the goggles to the Information Centre! Bub was ecstatic that he got back his goggles and we reminded him to be careful and to take good care of his belonging.

Overall it was a really fun-filled and great place for families and friends to hang out. We had lots of fun and will definitely be back again to try out more rides.

Heart-to-Heart with the Bub

As I was showering the Bub yesterday, I asked him if he would help to care for me when I got old. Immediately, this precious little boy started crying and said that he did not want me to grow old.

I hugged him and told him that everyone would grow old, and it is just another phase of life. I asked him why he didn’t want me to grow old and he replied by saying that if Mama Lim and I were to grow old, we would die and then he would not be able to see the both of us. The thought of not having us around is a really scary thought for him and it is too much for a 4-year-old boy to bear.

He said that if we were to die and go to Happyland*, we will be able to see him, but he cannot see us. And that upsets him terribly.

It warms my heart that my little Bub loves us so much and I hope one day he will read this and know that we love him as much as he loves us! 🙂

*We told Bub that Happyland is a place where all people go to when they pass away.

Bubbie Lim turned 4!!

Bubbie Lim turned 4 on 01 Sept 2018!!! It was a day that he has been anticipating!!

The Bub’s birthday celebration started early on 28 Aug, we have prepared goody bags that we purchased from Tfortoys and Qoo10 to distribute to all his classmates. and his teacher got everyone to sing him a birthday song.

On 29 Aug, Bub went on a school excursion trip to S.E.A. Aquarium at Resort World Sentosa, and he enjoyed himself alot. We brought him to the aquarium a few years ago but he was too young to remember anything from that trip. This time round, he came home raving about the hammerhead sharks,  stingrays and dolphins. He was also fascinated by the divers diving into the take to feed the fishes. As it was a school excursion, he could only stay for half a day. We promised him that we would bring him there again in the near future so that he could have more time looking at the fishes.

As Bub’s school was closed on 30 & 31 Aug for Teacher’s Day and Teacher’s Retreat, he went for a short staycation at Grandpa & Grandma Lim’s house as Papa & Mama Lim needs to work. He loves spending time with his grandparents as they shower him with lots of love and yummy snacks. Best of all, they love to bring him to the airport where he can watch the planes take off from the viewing gallery. Sometimes they would bring him to the many indoor playgrounds in the airport so that he can burn off his excess energy.

The Bub loves hanging out with Grandpa and Grandma Lim! 🙂

On 01 Sept, Bub went for his swimming lesson in the morning followed by another hour of splashing fun in the pool with Papa Lim and his usual Happy Meal Lunch after a shower.

Blowing bubbles in the pool!

Swimming like a boss nowadays!

Everybody loves ice cream!

We celebrated Bub’s 4th Birthday with at Grandpa & Grandma Lim’s house together with GuGu Lim, ShuShu Lim, ShenShen Lim & JiuJiu Tan. Grandpa Tan needs to work so he couldn’t join us but he gave a BirthDay Ang Pow to Bub.

1 month before his birthday, Papa Lim and I have been asking him what character cake does he wants.

The Bub had a customised 2 tiered Dinosaur cake from Baker’s Heart for his Big 1, an Angry Birds character cake from Polar Cakes and Puffs for his 2nd Birthday and last year on his 3rd Birthday, we had again got Baker’s Heart to customise a Tayo the Little Bus Cake for him. We really love the cake from Baker’s Heart, the cake is soft and the fresh cream is light and not too heavy on the palette. We received many raves about the cake from relatives and friends during Bub’s Big 1. Everyone loves the cake!

We are a happy family!

Cheeky Bub with Grandpa and Grandma Lim!

Bub has mentioned a few times he wanted a Paw Patrol character cake this year so we decided to order one from Bengawan Solo. They have a very good selection of character cakes and their cakes are nice too. We chose Pandan sponge and fresh cream combination which turned out great! The entire Limmies family chipped in to get him a few Hot Wheels toys to add to his growing collection of toy cars. A special shoutout to Aunty Cindy for the amazing presents too! I’m sure Kaiser will love them too! He was ecstatic to receive his presents and we can’t wait to open his presents and start playing with him.

The Bub loving his presents! 😀

The next day, the entire Limmies family went to Wild Wild Wet to have a crazy day out! We managed to book a cabana for Grandpa and Grandma Lim to lounge while the rest of us explored the waterpark. There were lots of child-friendly rides and the Bub had a great time exploring the place. The day passed quickly as we were running amok in the park and we were exhausted by the end of the day. The Bub was totally knocked out by the time we got onto the taxi and he slept soundly till the next morning. It was a great day out with the entire family and we look forward to more outings like this in the future!

Ready to have fun at Wild Wild Wet!

Cheeky little fella!

The place is huge!!!

It may have been an action-packed week, but we are glad that he enjoyed his birthday and we look forward to many more happy celebrations to come! 😀

Why Can’t the Bub Eat Chocolate? T_T

Like most children, the Bub loves eating chocolate. But just like his unfortunate Papa Lim, he suffers the side effects when he has too much of this yummy goodness. The both of us gets ‘heaty’ really easily when we take chocolate and more often than not, we will get a terrible sore throat and cough for the next couple of days.

CHOCOLATE MAKES US SICK! HOW SAD IS THAT? T___T

To make it even worse, both the Bub and I will get unreasonably high for a short period of time before we descend into an extended state of crankiness. That really sucks but that is how it is and I guess we will have to roll with it. 🙁

The Bub gets into a fight!

A few weeks back, I saw a familiar number appear on the screen of my phone while I was at work. It was the number of Bub’s childcare centre. My heart sank as I knew it was probably bad news if the childcare centre had to make a call to me in the middle of the day. Bub’s form teacher started apologising to me the instant I picked up the phone. She stated that the Bub got into a fight with his classmate and he suffered a bite mark on his chest as a result.

I was upset that he was hurt but I understood that the Bub could be at fault himself as he has a pretty short fuse just like me. We don’t really blow up, but if provoked, the both of us have a really shitty temper that cannot be quelled easily. I told his teacher that as long as the Bub is fine, I got no worries regarding the matter. I thanked her for informing me and I told her that I would pick him up from the centre at the usual time.

On my way to pick up the bub, I asked myself to find the best possible way to approach this incident with the Bub. Due to my tiny build, I have been an easy target for attacks from bullies and crazy folks in the past. Was somebody picking on him in school or was he the one dishing out the bullying instead? For selfish reasons, I hoped that he was the bully instead of the victim as I didn’t want him to be too badly hurt. But at the same time, I would not want another child to be on the receiving of my child’s bad manners.

As I walked up the driveway leading to the entrance of his centre, I heard his teacher call out his name and saw his little silhouette scurry quickly from the holding area to the entrance of the centre. When I got to the entrance, all I saw was my little baby boy looking at me with the most pitiful eyes. His hair was messy and his uniform was scrunched up. As I bent over to give him a hug, he started whining about the fight that he got into earlier in the day.

Here’s an excerpt of our conversation.

Me: What happened? Who did you get into a fight with?
Bub: It was J!
Me: What? I thought he was your best friend?
Bub: Yeah! But I was trying to sleep and he took his pillow and hit me many times!
Me: So did you tell the teacher?
Bub: No! He hit me many times with the pillow! So I was angry and I punched him!
Me: OMG…(I can’t believe he actually threw the first punch!)
Bub: After I punched him, he bit me on my body!!! So I bit him back also lor!
Me: Speechless…

So that’s how Bub’s first official childcare scrap went. I guess it ended up in a draw as both of them suffered bite marks on their chests!

I told the Bub that it was not right to punch his friends just because they were hitting him. Two wrongs do not make a right and I warned him that I would be very upset if he were to be throwing punches at anyone at school again, even if he was provoked. I told him that the best way to end any conflict is to walk away from the attacker and inform the teachers in charge.

I told him to make sure he apologises to J the next day and made him promise that he would not fight with his friends anymore.

That said, this incident made me consider sending the tiny Bub for self defense lessons so that he can learn discipline and some ways to defend himself from the bigger, badder kids in school.
